Stargate SG-1's 8th season will air on July 9,2004 on the Sci-Fi channel. This is a week before the SG-1 spin-off series, Stargate Atlantis, is due to be aired (July 16, 2004) on the same channel.

"The July 9 premiere is a full month later than the early June debuts for both Seasons Six and Seven," report's GateWorld.net. "This may have been done to accommodate the shorter season (20 episodes, rather than the usual 22), as well as the later start to filming (early March, instead of late February) and the arrival of SG-1's spin-off series, Stargate Atlantis."

It is yet unclear whether this will be SG-1's final season as Richard Dean Anderson (Jack O'Neill) has indicated that season 8 will be his final season. With Atlantis around to take SG-1's place, it is increasingly looking like SG-1 with end at season 8.
