SCI FI Channel and MGM have confirmed that the Stargate SG-1 spin-off, titled Stargate Atlantis, will begin filming early next year for a summer 2004 premiere.

The weekly series, with a total of twenty episodes, will be shown in tandem with the eighth season of Stargate SG-1. Stargate Atlantis will debut as a two-hour show on SCI FI.
